The Scourgelord’s Command

Tonight has been challenging, with the release of the new patch, came three new 5-man instances, The Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron and Halls of Reflection.

I cleared these on the night of the patch going live on ‘Heroic’ difficulty and had a great time, they’re truly epic encounters that really appeal to me.
Tonight, I decided to run through them again with a guild-mate who’s yet to complete them.

Tonight, thing’s haven’t gone so well, we start off at The Forge of Souls, the first in the chain of three dungeons.
We got through it in around 45 minutes and I picked up a rather hideous new helm for Touji.

I’ve also managed to pick up some nice new shoulders.

Anyway! As we ploughed into the second dungeon in the chain things looked good, we cleared the trash with little to no problem at all.
Actually, things went surprisingly well till we got to the Scourgelord Tyrannus.

He safely ate our group at least 5 times, our original healer and a DPS left us, clearly unhappy that our tank was learning for the first time.

Me and Kwoff, being the great folks that we are, stuck about and vowed to help the tank learn, till the bitter end.
Our replacement healer and DPS turned up in around 15-20 seconds, did I mention I love the new LFG system?

With our new group of intrepid adventurers raring to go, we charged back to Tyrannus and decided NOW was the time we would end his miserable existence.

The first attempt went the way of a bad snuff flick, he cleaved us limb from limb with his mind alone.
The second attempt? We’ll not talk about that.

Attempt three, well, attempt three never really happened, we returned to the cave where the path to his lair starts, but it was sealed shut, either a bug, or a lockout because we’d tried in vain to kill him too many times.

The decision was made to call it a night, Tyrannus survived…

I will be back for him though, I’ve killed him once, I can do it again!

WoW 3.3 and me

So, Warcraft’s latest patch 3.3 has gone live.
I’ve found myself sucked back into Azeroth in a way reminiscent of 2.4.
I find myself once again really enjoying adventuring in Azeroth, specifically as Touji. I’ve gotten stuck into a large number of heroics thanks to the new dungeon finder system.

Blizzard have exceeded my expectations with this feature, at the moment I’m chain running heroics with a gap of about 30 seconds between them, which is frankly stunning.
Combine that with the three new additional 5 man instances as well as the new raid content and I’m pretty much set to return full swing to WoW.

The big issue now is getting the guild back on its feet. I’ve been looking at the website and the forum, but I can’t quite bring myself to start the mammoth task of starting again basically.
I don’t mind so much though, I really think that running a guild is more than worth the effort involved, the rewards are simply staggering.

Embarked upon my first guild run in ages tonight and had an absolute blast even if we did have some issues and didn’t actually manage to achieve a whole lot. It was the taking part that mattered and I really felt a bit of that old guild magic again.

Here’s my latest pet, the Core Hound, simply logged in and acquired it as I’m using an authenticator to keep my account secure. Pretty sweet and a nice gesture from Blizzard.

Other than that, I’m just soldering on, trying to get as much done in life as I can but with the holiday to Florida coming up in 12 days I’m getting very excited and distracted.

Hakuna Matata folks!
